MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES - DECEMBER 14, 2009:

 

     The monthly meeting was called to order by President William B. Boots who led the members in the Pledge

of Allegiance.  Last month’s minutes were read and approved.  Bill Boots read the treasurer’s report in the

absence of Fred Moyer.  Carol Dambach said she put a new “NO PARKING” sign on the range road gate. 

The range officer, Bob Horton, said that someone was fined $200 for blocking the range road gate last week.  

Bob also thanked multiple club members for contributing their time to the success of the rifle range.  Ron Aiken

gave an update about the last Fall turkey shoot on November 24, 2009 with 17 rounds.  The Spring turkey shoots

will begin March 2, 2010 at 6:30 P.M.  Bill Boots read a note from Ben Birtalan’s widow thanking the club with a

monetary donation in Ben’s memory.  Paul Aiken will set up a desktop computer for Fred Moyer to use for his

treasurer’s report.   Bob Horton reminded the club members to be sure and have a pen or pencil to fill out their

hunting tag while hunting.  Tim Kelly was given authorization to shop around for materials to upgrade the kitchen

in January.  The first work session will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 8:30 A.M.  There will be no

Board of Directors’ meeting on Monday, December 28, 2009.  The next monthly meeting will be on

Monday, January 11, 2010 at 7:00 P.M.   The winner of the evening’s door prize was Charles Baker.  Special

thanks to Lee Winegar and Adam Kelly for serving refreshments.

MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES - NOVEMBER  9, 2009:

 

     The monthly meeting was called to order by President William B. Boots who led the members in the Pledge

of Allegiance.  Carl Custozzo announced that the last Fall turkey shoot will be held on Tuesday, November 24,

2009 at 6:30 P.M.  There was a reminder to members that the club's annual banquet will be held on Saturday,

March 13, 2010 beginning at 6:00 P.M. at the New Beaver Borough Vol. Fire Dept.  A club newsletter will be

mailed to all members with a reservation form sometime in February.  New or renewed memberships may now

be purchased for 2010.  Applications may be obtained from the club's website: 

www.ellwoodwampumrodandgunclub.com.  There will be NO Board of Directors' meeting on Monday,

November 30th because of the first day of rifle deer season.  The next regular meeting will be held on Monday,

December 14, 2009 P.M.  The election of officers and Board of Directors for 2010 was held this evening with

the following members accepting the following offices:  President - William B. Boots, Vice President - Ronald

Aiken, Recording Secretary - Janice Greathouse, Treasurer - Fred Moyer, Membership Secretary - Lee Winegar,

Range Officer - Bob Horton, NRA Executive Officer - Paul Aiken, Delegate to County Council - Dick

Bayer/Alternate - Fred Moyer.  The following members were elected to a two year term on the Board of

Directors - Tim Kelly, Carl Custozzo, John Wilmes, Cliff Musser, Carol Dambach, William J. Boots, Sr., Willard

Deemer and Chuck Bevington (1 year only).  The winner of the evening's door prize was Joe Musser.  Special

thanks to Lee Winegar and Adam Kelly for serving refreshments to the members this evening.

FALL TURKEY SHOOT results -  NOVEMBER 17, 2009:

 

     The following participants were winners of either a ham or turkey at the clubhouse on Tuesday, November 17th:  Shaun Aiken, George Brenneman, Mike Rollins, Jackie Main, Eric Custozzo, Russ Russell, Jeff Kellner, Don Minteer, Robert Rogers, Mark Verone, Joe Pollack, Evan Barton, Carmen Bucci, P.J. Aiken and Jim Dambach.  These shoots are open to the public and cost $2.25 @ line with the shell included.  There will be a "youth shoot" for those who are age 17 and younger if they have a legal guardian with them when they shoot.   This will be the last shoot of the Fall season.  The Spring shoots will begin on the first Tuesday of March 2010.  The officers and Board of Directors would like to thank everyone for their help and support of the club's fundraiser.

     The following participants were winners at the Ellwood/Wampum Rod & Gun Club's Fall turkey and ham shoot

Bob Reiser.  Additional shoots will be held at 6:30 P.M. on November 17 & 24, 2009.  Shooters do not need to be

club members in order to participate.  Each week there will be a "youth shoot" for those age 17 or younger who

have a legal guardian with them.  The cost is $2.25 per line with a shell included regardless of membership.

Mark Verone, Don Reed, Jackie Main, Rob Bucci, Dean Snyder and Mike Rambo.  These shoots are open to

the public and cost $2.25 @ line with a shell included.  If enough youth are present, there will be a specific shoot

for anyone who is age 17 or younger provided that they have a legal guardian with them.  The turkey/ham shoots

will continue to be held each Tuesday beginning at 6:30 P.M. through November 24, 2009 at the clubhouse on

Route 288 in Wayne Twp.  The next shoot will be Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 6:30 P.M.

MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES - OCTOBER 12, 2009:

 

     Vice President, Ron Aiken, led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance to begin the monthly meeting.  Last

month's minutes were read and approved.  Dick Bayer read the minutes from the September 17th Lawrence

County Council meeting.  Various resolutions and hunting seasons were discussed by the members.  The next

Lawrence County Council meeting will be held at our clubhouse on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 8:00 P.M.  All

members are welcome to attend.  A "Sportsman's Flea Market" will be held at our club on Saturday, June 12,

2009.  Paul Aiken will be in charge of a Firearm Safety Course from 1:00-5:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 1,

2009.  At last month's Board of Directors' meeting, it was decided to only hold a combined membership/directors'

meeting in the months of November (9th) and December (14th), 2009.  This was decided because of the cost of

heating the clubhouse during the cold weather.  The club's annual banquet will be held on Saturday, March 13,

2010 with Cal DuBrock from the PA Game Commission as the speaker.  The dinner will begin at 6:00 P.M. at the

New Beaver Borough Volunteer Fire Department.  More reservation details will be printed in the club's newsletter

which will be sent to members at the beginning of February 2010.  At the next regular club meeting on November 9,2009 beginning at 7:00 P.M., there will be an election of officers/board of directors for 2010.  All members who are in possession of a current membership may vote.  The Nominating Committee consists of Lee Winegar, Carol

Dambach and P.J. Aiken.  Please see one of them if you have anyone who you would like to see be added to the

slate of officers/directors for the election.  Anyone who wants to purchase a club membership for 2010 may do so

after the November election.  A first time "joiners' fee" of $10 will be assessed to the following memberships: 

Senior (age 65+) $15, and Regular (age 18-64) $30, or for anyone who has lapsed their membership during the

2009 year.  A Junior (age 17 and younger) $2 membership may be purchased with no joiners' fee.  Carl Custozzo

announced that the Fall turkey/ham shoots will continue each Tuesday through November 24, 2009 beginning at

6:30 P.M.  These shoots are open to the public and cost $2.25 per round with the shell included in the price.  If

enough youth are present, there will be a shoot specifically for youth ages 17 and younger provided that they have

a legal guardian with them.  The winner of the evening's door prize was Paul Aiken.  Special thanks to Lee Winegar and Adam Kelly for serving refreshments to those who where present at the meeting.

included.  There will be a "youth shoot" for those who are 17 years old or younger and have a legal guardian with

them while they shoot.  Winners may receive either a turkey, ham or cash prize.  Shoots will continue to be held 

each Tuesday beginning at 6:30 P.M. through November 24, 2009.  The next shoot will be October 13, 2009.

Durbin, Bill Hawes, Jim Dambach and Carol Dambach.  These shoots are open to the public and cost $2.25

per line with a shell provided.  Hams or turkeys are offered to the winners.  A special "youth shoot" will be held

for those who are age 17 or younger if they have a legal guardian with them.   Shoots will continue to be held

at the clubhouse on Route 288 (Wampum Road) in Wayne Township each Tuesday through November 24, 2009

beginning at 6:30 P.M.  The next shoot will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 6:30 P.M.

MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES - SEPTEMBER 14, 2009:


     President Bill Boots called the monthly meeting to order by leading the members in the Pledege of Allegiance.  Last month's meeting minutes were read and approved.  Fred Moyer read the minutes from the last Lawrence County Council meeting which was held on Thursday, August 20, 2009.  He also announced that the

Ellwood/Wampum Rod & Gun Club would be hosting the County Council meeting at the clubhouse on Route 288

(Wampum Road) in Wayne Township on Thursday, October 15, 2009 beginning at 8:00 P.M.  All members are

encouraged to attend. All of the Hunter/Trapper Safety Education classes in Lawrence County have now been

completed as of September 10th and 12th at Shenango High School.  Carl Custozzo announced that the first Fall

turkey shoot was held on Tuesday, September 8th.  The cost per line is now $2.25 instead of $2.00 this year (the

fee includes a shell for the round).  The Fall shoots for turkeys and hams will continue each Tuesday at the

clubhouse through November 24, 2009 with shooting beginning at 6:30 P.M.  A special "youth shoot" will be held

each week for those who are age 17 and younger and have a legal guardian present with them when they shoot. 

Discussion was held concerning the club's property and some renovations which will be taking place.  Nominations for the 2010 officers and Board of Directors will be taken for the November election by the following Nominating Committee members:  Lee Winegar, Carol Dambach and Paul Aiken.  Club elections will be held at the regular monthly meeting on November 9, 2009 with the meeting beginning at 7:00 P.M.  The next Board of Director's meeting will be held on Monday, September 29, 2009 and October 12, 2009 will be the next monthly meeting.  These meetings will also begin at 7:00 P.M.  The winner of the evening's door prize was Willard Deemer.  Jim Dambaugh made a motion to adjourn the meeting with a second by John Wilmes.

Township.  Shooters do not need to be club members in order to participate.  Each week there will be a

"youth shoot" for those aged 17 or younger who have a legal guardian with them.  The cost is $2.25 per line

for each shooter, regardless of membership.  The next shoot will be Tuesday, September 15, 2009.

MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES - AUGUST 10, 2009:

 

     President Bill Boots led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance to begin the evening's meeting.  Fred Moyer

read the report from the Lawrence County Council meeting on July 16, 2009 which was held at Castlewood Rod &

Gun Club.  Last month's minutes were read and approved.  The club's annual banquet reservation was verified for

March 13, 2010 at the New Beaver Borough Fire Hall by Janice Greathouse.  Yesterday's family picnic was well

attended despite the weather being 90 degrees and humid.  President Boots thanked Adam and Tim Kelly for the

kitchen preparations, LeRoy Houk for providing corn on the cob with Cliff Musser helping to shuck it, and Dick Bayer for grilling the meat.  Bob Horton was the winner of the 50/50.  This evening's refreshments were organized by Adam and Tim Kelly and Carl Custozzo grilled the meat despite the rain.  The winner of this evening's door prize was Ron Aiken.  Janice Greathouse went over the results of the survey which was completed by only officers and Board of Directors concerning expenditures.  Ron Aiken welcomed all who were present to the 160th Anniversary of Wayne Twp. which will be celebrated on Saturday, September 12, 2009 with a picnic in Ewing Park at the main shelters 2A & 2B.  Fireworks will be provided at dusk by Zambelli Fireworks of New Castle and will be set off from our club's shooting range.  Tim Kelly announced that our club will have their own family picnic so we can enjoy the fireworks from our own property.  Castlewood Rod & Gun Club will host a "Sporting Clay Shoot Fundraiser" to benefit the Michael J. Novosel Foundation with proceeds going to soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with debilitating injuries.  Paul Aiken will try to organize a team from our club at tomorrow evening's trap shoot which begins at 6:00 P.M.  Trap shoots will continue each Tuesday through August 25, 2009 beginning at 6:00 P.M.  Fall turkey shoots will begin on September 8 and continue each Tuesday through November 24, 2009 at 6:30 P.M.  These shoots are open to the public and cost $2 @ line with a shell provided.  If enough youth are present, a special shoot will be held for them if they have a parent in attendance.  The next Board of Directors' meeting will be held on Monday, August 31, 2009 and the next regular monthly meeting will be held on Monday, September, 14, 2009.  All meetings begin at 7:00 P.M.

MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES - JULY 13, 2009:

 

     President Bill Boots lead the members in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Fred Moyer gave an update from the

Lawrence County Council meeting which was held on June 18, 2009.  He reminded members that the antlerless

license applications could be submitted as of today.  The next County Council meeting will be held on Thursday,

July 16th at 8:00 P.M. at the Castlewood Rod & Gun Club.  Bill passed out a "capital expenditure ballot" to all

directors who were present and asked them to vote and return it at the Board of Directors' meeting on Monday,

July 27, 2009.  The existing by-laws were passed out with proposed changes for voting next month.  Discussion

was held concerning the wording of "family" for memberships.  The club's annual family picnic will be held on

Sunday, August 9, 2009 between 1:00-3:00 P.M.  Members may bring something to share, but hamburgers/hot

dogs and corn on the cob will be furnished by the club.  Paul Aiken announced that trap shoots will continue to

be held every Tuesday through August 25, 2009 beginning at 6:00 P.M.  Carl Custozzo was the winner of the

evening's door prize.

MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES - JUNE 8, 2009:

 

     President Bill Boots called the meeting to order by leading those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.  The

minutes and treasurer's report from April/May were read and approved.  Fred Moyer gave a report concerning the

Lawrence County Council meeting from Thursday, June 18, 2009 in the absence of Dick Bayer who was teaching

our club's Hunter/Safety Education class that evening.  Bill read a letter of application from Ralph Martone for a

position within the PA Game Commission.  Bill also posed the question of whether we should tar and chip the range road.  Carol Dambach said it should be done every year.  Paul Aiken gave a report about the 52 certified hunters who passed the Hunter Education at our clubhouse on June 18 and 20, 2009.  He took 13 walk-ins the first evening.  Dick Bayer reported on the 2nd Ammendment Flea Market which was held at our club on Saturday, June 13, 2009.  He made a motion, with a second by Carl Custozzo, to hold next year's flea market on the second Saturday of June (motion passed).  Carol Dambach asked the directors if she could have the platform from the front desk since the hardwood floor was refinished (agreed upon).  Janice Greathouse gave the by-laws' corrections/recommendations to Lee Winegar from the by-laws' committee.  These corrections will be implimented in the old by-laws to be gone over at the July regular meeting with the directors' approval.  The second newsletter for the year will be drawn up by Lee Winegar.  The annual family picnic will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2009 from 1:00-3:00 P.M.  Fall Turkey Shoots will be held September 8 through November 24, 2009.  Trap shoots will continue through August 25, 2009 every Tuesday at 6:00 P.M.  Paul Aiken thanked Janice for her help with the Hunter Safety Education cards and Bill thanked Adam Kelly for serving refreshments both days of the class.  Lee Winegar was the winner of the evening's door prize.

MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES - May 11, 2009:

 

          President Bill Boots called the monthly meeting to order by leading the members in the Pledge of

Allegiance.  Our club's Hunter/Trapper Safety Education Class will be held on Thursday, June 18th (6-10 P.M.)

and Saturday, June 20th (9 A.M. to 5 P.M.).  PARTICIPANTS MUST PRE-REGISTER ONLINE FOR THE CLASS.  Lunch will be provided on Saturday by the club.  Lawrence County Council representative, Dick Bayer, announced that there will be a "mentored" youth hunting license fee of $1.00 this year and by the time additional fees are added, the total cost for the license will be $2.70 for the PA Game Commission.  The "2nd Amendment

Sportsmen's Flea Market" will be held at our clubhouse on Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. 

Several tables are still available for vendors.  Please contact Dick Bayer if you are still interested.  Trap Shoots

will be held each Tuesday from June 2nd through August 25th this summer.  Shells will be available for purchase

in case participants run out of ammunition.  These shoots are open to the public.  Club members will receive a

discounted round fee.  The Board of Directors would like to thank John Swogger for his donation toward the

restoration of the clubhouse floor.  Club members will be working on this project during the end of May and the

beginning of June when the clubhouse will not be in use.  The next regular club meeting will be held on Monday,

June 8, 2009.  The Board of Directors have cancelled their monthly meeting on May 25, 2009 because of the

Memorial Day holiday.  The next directors' meeting will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009.  All meetings begin

at 7 P.M.  The winner of the evening's door prize was Ron Aiken.  Special thanks to Lee Winegar and Adam

Kelly for serving refreshments.

Spring Turkey Shoot results - April 14, 2009:

 

     The following participants were winners in last evening's Spring ham and turkey shoot:  Harry

Stephenson, William Shoaff, Bill Shuttleworth, George Brenneman, J.D. Cory, Tom O'Brien and Hayden

Maine.  The winner of the evening's "youth shoot" was Tyler Maine.  This was the last turkey shoot of the

Spring.  The Fall season shoots will begin on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 and continue each Tuesday

through November 24, 2009 beginning at 6:30 P.M.  All shoots are open to the public.  The club officers

and Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who helped support the club's activity.

MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES - APRIL 13, 2009:

    President Bill Boots called the monthly meeting to order by leading the members in the Pledge of

Allegiance.  Carl Custozzo announced that the last Spring turkey shoot would be held on Tuesday, April

14, 2009.  These shooting events have been well attended by entire families and the club officers and

Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who helped out or participated in any way.  The Fall

turkey shoots will begin on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 and continue each Tuesday through November

24, 2009 beginning at 6:30 P.M.  Trap shoots will be open to the public at the clubhouse and will be held

during the summer months from June 2 through August 25, 2009 beginning at 6:00 P.M.  Paul Aiken

announced that this year's Hunter/Trapper Safety Education class which will be held at our clubhouse on

Thursday, June 18 (6-10 P.M.) and Saturday, June 20, 2009 (9 A.M. - 5 P.M.) must be registered for online

before coming to the event.  Participants must be at least 11 years old and attend BOTH sessions in order

to receive certification.  Lunch will be provided by the club members on Saturday.  Dick Bayer gave

information concerning bills which are being proposed concerning gun legislation.  There will be a

"Work Night" at the clubhouse beginning at 4:30 P.M. on Tuesday, April 21,  2009.  Members are

encouraged to assist if they can.  Jim Dambach was the winner of the evening's door prize.  Special

thanks to Adam Kelly for serving refreshments.  The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, May

11, 2009 and the next Board of Directors' meeting will be held on Monday, April 27, 2009.  All meetings

will begin at 7:00 P.M.

Spring Turkey Shoot results - April 7, 2009:

 

     The following participants were winners in last evening's Spring ham and turkey shoots:  Harry

Stephenson, Jim Dambach, John Tedrow, Haden Maine, Jeff Work, Jr, Jessica Work and Dave Alters. 

The winner of the "youth shoot" for those who are age 17 or younger and accompanied by a parent was

Tyler Maine.  Next week will be the last shoot of the Spring season on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 beginning

at 6:30 P.M. at the clubhouse.  All shoots are open to the public.  Fall turkey shoots will resume on

September 8, 2009 and continue each Tuesday through November 24, 2009 at 6:30 P.M.  Club members

are reminded that their 2009 dues are now late and must be paid first before exchanging their range road

key for a new one.  The new locks were changed on April 1, 2009.  Keys may be exchanged and dues

may be paid at any meeting or turkey shoot.

      The following participants were winners at last evening's Spring ham and turkey shoots which were

held at the Ellwood/Wampum Rod & Gun Club:  George Brenneman, J.D. Cory, Jeff Burgess, Ron Viccari,

Gebhardt.  Hayden Maine was the winner of the "youth shoot" which was specifically held only for those

who were under age 17 and had a parent or guardian with them.  The next shoot will be held on Tuesday,

April 7, 2009 beginning at 6:30 P.M. at the clubhouse.  This activity is open to the public.  Members are

reminded to pay their 2009 membership dues before they can exchange their old range road gate key for

a new one.  The lock will be changed effective today (Wednesday, April 1, 2009).  The final Spring turkey

shoot will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009.

Spring Turkey Shoot results - March 24, 2009:

 

     The following participants were winners at last evening's Spring ham and turkey shoots at the

Ellwood/Wampum Rod & Gun Club:  J.D. Cory, Harry Stephenson, George Brenneman, Guy Tabish, Jim

Lutz, Floyd Mayberry, Carol Dambach, Jonathan Greathouse and Eric Custozzo.  Shoots will continue to

be held every Tuesday through April 14, 2009 beginning at 6:30 P.M. at the clubhouse.  This event is open

to the public.  Club members are reminded to have their 2009 memberships paid by March 31, 2009 to

avoid paying an additional $10 for a "lapsed" membership.  The locks will be changed on the range road

gate effective April 1, 2009.  Old keys may be exchanged at the weekly turkey shoots or at any club

meeting.

Spring Turkey Shoot results - March 17, 2009:

 

     The following participants were winners in the Spring ham and turkey shoots which were held at the

Ellwood/Wampum Rod & Gun Club on Tuesday, March 17, 2009:  William Shoaff, Jr., Harry Stephenson,

William Shuttleworth, Jessica Klinzing, Jon McClymonds, Matt Gebhardt, Eric Custozzo and Jonathan

Greathouse.  Jon McClymonds was the winner of the "youth shoot" for those who are 17 years old and

younger.  Spring shoots will continue at the clubhouse each Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. through April 14, 2009. 

Fall shoots will be held from September 8 through November 24, 2009.  This event is open to the public. 

Just a reminder that the lock on the club's rifle range gate will be changed effective April 1, 2009.  Old

keys may be exchanged at any meeting or turkey shoot.  Club members must have their 2009 membership

dues paid by Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in order to avoid a $10 late penalty for a "lapsed" membership

when they receive their new key.

Monthly Meeting Minutes - March 9, 2009:    

 

 

     President Bill Boots called the monthly meeting to order by leading those present in the Pledge of

Allegiance.  Carl Custozzo announced that Spring turkey shoots will continue each Tuesday at 6:30 P.M.

through April 14, 2009.  Winners will have a choice of a ham, turkey or cash prize.  If enough youth are

present, one of the shoots will be strictly for youth if they have an adult present.  Each line costs $2 which

includes a shell.  These shoots are open to the public.  The Fall turkey shoots will begin September 8 and

continue each Tuesday through November 24, 2009.  The club's annual banquet will be held on Saturday,

March 14, 2009 at the New Beaver Borough Fire Hall.  Doors will open at 4:30 P.M. and the dinner will

begin promptly at 6:00 P.M.  The meal selection will be roast beef or stuffed chicken breast.  The speaker

for the evening will be Tom Bechdel on the topic of coyote hunting.  He will have books and DVDs for

purchase at the banquet.  These may be previewed at his website:  www.tombechdel.com.  Membership

dues for 2009 must be paid by March 31, 2009 to avoid a penalty of $10 for a "lapsed" membership. 

Anyone wishing to be a "first time" member must pay a $10 initiation fee, then $30 for a Regular

membership (ages 18-64), $15 for a Senior membership (ages 65+) and $2 for a Junior membership

(ages 17 and younger).  Dues may also be mailed to the club's post office box at Ellwood/Wampum Rod

& Gun Club, P.O. Box 442, Ellwood City, PA 16117.  If a key is wanted for the club's rifle range gate, then

a one time $5 fee must be added to the membership.  The current keys will be exchanged for new ones

for the first time at the banquet.  The locks will be changed on April 1, 2009.  Old keys may be exchanged

for a new key at any of the regular club meetings (the second Monday of every month), the Board

of Directors' meetings (the last Monday of each month), or at the turkey shoots.  Membership applications

may be found on our club's web page at www.ellwoodwampumrodandgunclub.com.  Our club will sponsor a Hunter Safety/Trapper Education Class on Thursday, June 18 (6-10 P.M.) and Saturday, June 20

George Brenneman, Eric Custozzo, Jonathan Greathouse and Dennis Poling.  Winners have a choice of

a ham, turkey or cash prize.  The next shoot will be held at the clubhouse on Tuesday, March 17, 2009

beginning at 6:30 P.M.  Shoots are open to the public and will be held each Tuesday through April

14, 2009.  Club members are reminded to pay their 2009 dues by March 31, 2009 to avoid a penalty. 

The range road gate keys will be changed effective April 1, 2009.

Monthly Meeting Minutes - February 9, 2009:

 

     President Bill Boots called the monthly meeting to order by leading those in attendance in the Pledge

of Allegiance.  Four youth from the Laurel Conservation Club  (Wayne Smail, Tyler Patton, John

Sickafuse and Matt Armagost) came to the meeting and asked our club to sponsor a muzzleloader for

their "Wall of Fame" of bucks in the Laurel High School gymnasium.  Laurel Sportsman's Night Out was

held on Friday, February 27, 2009.  Joe Morris from the PA Fish Commission gave an update on stocking

and steelhead funding of 2 1/2 million dollars through an Erie permit.  WCO Jeff Kendall gave specifics

concerning this year's hunting seasons.  LeRoy Houk made a request for people to help sell tickets at the

various fund raising stations on Saturday, March 14, 2009 which is our club's annual banquet to be held

at the New Beaver Borough Fire Hall with the dinner beginning promptly at 6:00 P.M. and the doors

opening at 4:30 P.M.   Meal selections for $13 each are a choice of roast beef or stuffed chicken breast. 

Reservations may be mailed to "Ellwood/Wampum Rod & Gun Club", P.O. Box 442, Ellwood City, PA 

16117 by the March 7th deadline.  The speaker for the evening will be Tom Bechdel from Saegertown,

PA on the topic of coyotte hunting.  He will also have copies of his DVD and book for sale at the banquet.

Delegates to County Council - Dick Bayer and alternate - Fred Moyer.  The following Board of Directors

remaining board members who will be voted on for the 2010 year are - Carl Custozzo, Charles Baker, Tim
