William James Boots - we are sad to post the passing of former director and father of current club President, 

William B. Boots, on Friday, December 2, 2016 in the VA Medical Center in Butler.  Visitation will be Sunday, 

December 4, 2016 from 2-8 P.M. at the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home located at 3801 4th Avenue, College Hill, 

Beaver Falls, PA 15101.  The service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the funeral home. 

Mr. Boots was 87 years old and resided in North Sewickley Twp.  Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, 

to Blackhawk Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1573, Beaver Falls, PA  15101.

MEETING CHANGE:  The Board of Directors' meeting which was scheduled for Monday, November 28 has been changed to December 12, 2016 after the regular monthly meeting at 7:00 P.M.  Memberships

    The Ellwood/Wampum Rod & Gun Club's annual banquet will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 

the Wurtemburg/Perry Volunteer Fire Department.   Doors will open at 4:30 P.M. and dinner will begin 

promptly at 6:00 P.M.  Further details and reservation information will be provided in the club's newsletter 

which will be mailed to current club members after the beginning of the new year.  This event is open to 

the public.  Checks should be made out to "Ellwood/Wampum Rod & Gun Club" and mailed to P.O. Box 442,

Ellwood City, PA 16117.  Additional information will also be provided on this website.

     There will not be a Lawrence County Council meeting during the month of November.  The next one will be 

held on Tuesday, December 15, 2016 at the Coachmen's Club with the meeting beginning at 7:00 P.M. and

REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING - AUGUST 8, 2016:

 

    President William B. Boots called the monthly meeting to order by leading those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Recording Secretary, Janice Greathouse, read the minutes from the July 11, 2016 meeting (the 

minutes were approved as read).  From the "Grounds Committee", Bob Horton requested that the picnic tables be kept in 2 long rows as they were originally arranged because they are so heavy to move. Jack Hunter said that a wedding reception was recently held and the tables were rearranged to accommodate a dance floor.  Junior club member, Tonia Onink, was a participant in the Lawrence County Conservation Camp last June.  She gave a report 

concerning her experiences of perch fishing, raccoon hunting and visiting Elk County to see the elk in their natural habitat.  She wanted to thank the club for sponsoring her for the week's trip.  Paul Aiken gave a report on future classes for hunters which include "Bow Hunting" on August 20th, Hunter/Trapper Education class at Shenango 

High School on September 10th, and a "Cable Restraint" class on September 17th at our clubhouse.  Tim Kelly, 

our club's Lawrence County Council representative, read 4 proposed House bills which he needed input from our club's members to take back to the PFSC meeting in Harrisburg this September.  Bob Horton announced a "Work Night" this Wednesday, August 10th at 6:00 P.M. to make improvements at the club's garage.  It was announced 

that club member, Leonard L. Wolfe (age 90), passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016. Nicholas Redmond was 

the winner of the club's door prize for the evening.  The next regular monthly meeting will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 7:00 P.M.

LAWRENCE COUNTY COUNCIL will meet at our clubhouse on Thursday, September 15, 2016.  There will be a 

time for refreshments and fellowship at 7:00 P.M.   The regular monthly meeting will begin promptly at 8:00 P.M. 

for all of the Lawrence County Sportsmen's Clubs.  All club members are welcome to attend!

FALL 2016 TURKEY SHOOT RESULTS:

     September 6, 2016:  The following participants were winners at the first Fall 2016 turkey shoot of the 

Ellwood/Wampum Rod & Gun Club - Don Reed was a single winner & Jim Cory, Larry Baker and Doug Russell were double winners.  The winner of the evening's door prize was Dave Byler.  The winners were given their 

choice of a turkey, ham or cash prize.  These shoots are open to the public and all participants need to bring and use their own ear protection.  Youth are also encouraged to participate as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  Turkey shoots will be held every Tuesday from September 6, 2016 until November 22, 2016.  Sign-ups will begin at 6:00 P.M. and shooting will start at 6:30 P.M.  The next turkey shoot will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.

     September 13, 2016:   The following participants were winners at this week's turkey shoot - Matt Gebhardt, 

Jr., Doug Russell, Tom O'Brien, David Caccia and Jerry Sadler.  Damon Bumgardner was a double winner.  The winner of the evening's door prize was Jim Cory.  Each winner was given their choice of a turkey, ham or cash 

prize.  All shoots are open to the public and all participants need to bring/use their own ear protection.  Youth are also encouraged to participate as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  Turkey shoots will be held every Tuesday from September 6, 2016 through November 22, 2016.  Sign-ups begin at 6:00 P.M. and shooting starts at 6:30 P.M.  Thenext turkey shoot will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

All club shoots are open to the public.  Youth are encouraged to participate as long as they are accompanied by 

a parent or legal guardian.  All participants need to bring and use their own ear protection.  Turkey shoots will be held every Tuesday through November 22, 2016.  Sign-ups begin at 6:00 p.m. and shooting starts at 6:30 P.M.  

The next turkey shoot will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016.

of a turkey, ham or cash prize. These shoots are open to the public and participants need to bring/use their own 

ear protection. Youth are encouraged to participate as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Shoots will continue each Tuesday through November 22, 2016.  Sign-ups begin at 6:00 P.M. and shooting starts

Kelly. David Caccia was a double winner.  John Barsotti was a triple winner.  Howard Allison was the winner of the evening's door prize. Each winner was given their choice of a turkey, ham or cash prize.  All club shoots are open to the public. Participants must bring/use their own ear protection.  Youth are welcome participate as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  Shoots will continue each Tuesday through November 22, 2016.

     October 11, 2016:  Winners at this week's turkey shoot were: Tom O'Brien, Robert Schaffer, Jim Cory, Jerry Sadler, Doug Russell, Chelsea O'Brien, Kurtis Kelly, Steve Hollencamp and John Goeble.  The winner of the special shoot for youth was Brock Newman.  Howard Allison was the winner of the evening's door prize.  Winners were given their choice of a turkey, ham, bacon or cash prize.  All shoots held at the club are open to the public. Participants should bring/use their own ear protection.  Youth are welcome to participate as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  Sign-ups begin at 6:00 P.M. and shooting begins at 6:30 P.M.  Turkey shoots will continue each Tuesday through November 22, 2016.  The next turkey shoot will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. 

     October 18, 2016:  Immediately after this evening's turkey shoot, all club members are encouraged to attend

the visitation for former club president, Willard Deemer, at the Turner Funeral Home on 6th Street in Ellwood City.  

Willard was a devoted member and an active participant in all club activities.  The Officers and Board of Directors 

would like to extend their sympathy to the Deemer family at this time.  The memorial service for Willard will be held 

at 11:00 A.M. at Turner's Funeral Home tomorrow (Wednesday, October 19, 2016).

     Winners for this evening's shoots were Damon Bumgardner, Don Reed, Chuck Bingle, Brian Bober, Sr., Ron 

Harmon, Mason Lecher, Diepre Herge and John Lubich.  Aaron Kelly was a double winner.  Don Reed was the

     October 25, 2016:  This week's turkey shoot winners were Shane Price, David Moore, Bob List, Ed Sniezek, 

Steve Hollencamp, Don Reed, George Tincani and Greg Lechner.  Mark Beachem and Brodie Beachem were 

double winners. The winner of the door prize was Andy Kelly.  Winners were given their choice of a turkey, ham, 

bacon or cash prize.  All shoots are open to the public.  Participants should bring/use their own ear protection.  

Youth are welcome to participate as long as they areaccompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  Sign-ups begin 

at 6:00 P.M. and shooting begins at 6:30 P.M.  Turkey shoots will continue each Tuesday in the month of November through November 22, 2016.  The next turkey shoot will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.

     November 8, 2016:  The turkey shoots could not be held this week due to the local power outage that lasted 5 hours.  We are sorry for the inconvenience of those who came to the event, but had to leave since we weren't sure 

how long the power would be off.  The next shoot will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016.  The final fall shoot 

will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

     November 15, 2016:  The following participants were winners at the turkey shoot this week - Dave Shaffer, 

Jim Cory, Howard Allison, George Tincani, John Barsotti, Kurtis Kelly, Chris Kobbe, Jesse Boyle, Chuck Bingle 

and Steve Hollencamp. Lennon Barry and Craig Wimer were double winners.  The winner of the evening's door prize was Dave Byler.  Each winner was given their choice of a turkey, ham, bacon or cash prize.  All shoots are open to the public. Next Tuesday, November 22, 2016, will be the last turkey shoot for the Fall.  Spring turkey shoots will begin on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 with 6:00 P.M. sign-ups. The officers & directors of the club would like to thank everyone who supported our shoots this season.

     November 22, 2016:  The last turkey shoot for the season had the following winners:  Chuck Bingle, Lennon 

Barry, Shane Price, John Karpik, Scott Stewart, John Barsotti, Taran Spielvogle, Kent Butler, Tony Spielvogle, Jacob Bupp and Jerry Sadler.  Double winners were George Tincani and Doug Russell.  The winner of the evening's door prize was Matt Bupp.  The winner of the seasonal door prize was Carl Custozzo.  Spring turkey shoots will begin on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 and continue each Tuesday through April 11, 2017 at 6:30 P.M.

TRAP SHOOTS will continue to be held during the month of September, but note the change of date & time on 

Mondays (September 12, 19 & 26, 2016) at 5:00 P.M. There will be NO shoot on September 5, 2016 because 

of the Labor Day holiday.

REMINDER: The next Board of Directors' meeting will be August 28, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. and the next monthly club meeting will held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 7:00 P.M.   Election of club officers & directors for 2017 will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 7:00 P.M.  All members in "good standing" are able to cast a ballot at this meeting.

The ANNUAL FAMILY PICNIC will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M.  All club members

 are welcome to attend with their family.  Hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, beverages & tableware will be provided.  If you would like to bring an entree to share with the members, you may do so.

TRAP SHOOTS will be held on Tuesdays at 6:00 P.M. during the months of MAY, JUNE, JULY & AUGUST.  

Come try out our NEW trap that we just purchased.  These shoots are open to the public.  Each round costs 

$3.00. You must bring your gun & a box of 25 shells for each round you plan on shooting.  PLEASE bring your 

own ear protection, too!  The last trap shoot for the regular season will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. There is a possibility that shooting may continue throughout September.  Watch the website for an update.

     APRIL 12, 2016: Winners include Frank Miller, Chuck Bingle, George Tincani, Mike Rollins, Jarett Lubich, 

David Caccia and Jim Spielvogel.  Double winners include Patrick McCullouch, Chris Kobbe and John Barsotti.  

All winners had a choice between a turkey, ham or cash prize.  This is the final turkey shoot until Fall 2016.  Fall turkey shoots will be held every Tuesday from September 6 through November 22, 2016 with sign-ups at 6:00 

P.M. and shoots beginning at 6:30 P.M.  The winner of the evening's door prize was Taran Spielvogel.

 

     APRIL 5, 2016: Winners include Tom O'Brien, Frank Nofsker, Brian Nofsker, Howard Allison, Jim Spielvogel, 

Larry Baker and Niko Bryant.  Patrick McCullouch was a double winner.
